Il progetto “STEP 2 SPORT – Renovation towards nearly zero energy Sport buildings” presentato nel mese di maggio 2016 under the Community program IEE (Intelligent Energy for Europe), dall'ASEA and other community partners has been positively assessed by the European Commission Directorate General for Energy and Transport.
The project is included in the list of approved projects published on the IEE program website (http://ec.europa.eu/energy/intelligent).
STEP 2 SPORTS will run for three years, mobilizing the whole, almost 1.800.000 euro. The partnership sees as leader LEITAT – Technologial Center in Barcelona, and over all'ASEA, with the participation of nine other partners, with a total involvement of six EU countries: Italy, Spagna, Svezia, Denmark, Bulgaria, Greece and Poland.
The project officially started in April 2014 the Kick off Meeting in Barcelona, during which the contract will be signed between the EACI (Executive Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation) ed i partner, will also detail the timer program of actions. Immediately after it was launched on the project's website.
The purpose of the initiative will be to improve the actual energy efficiency of different types of sports facilities: halls, gyms, swimming pool, indoor courts and outdoor. The strategic objective is to decrease the energy needs, experiencing different realities in the European Union, solutions and innovative methodologies reproducible on a large scale.
Substance, in all territories involved in the project, including that of the province of Benevento, It will be preliminarily realized a mapping of sports facilities, to be included in a comprehensive energy benchmarking project, with subsequent variation of the pilot cases. We are later specified the energy performance indicators and their function will be identified the optimum level of energy consumption. Below will be determined and implemented concrete actions, to achieve the energy savings, applying innovative technology. Finally it will be produced guidelines for energy efficiency obtained with measures to disseminate information across the EU territory.
Even so nel Sannio, the sports facilities will be identified object of pilot cases. The envisaged activities, Furthermore, They will be directly involved with professional associations, environmentalist, local authorities and other stakeholders present in our territorial reality.

The first action of the project was the collection and analysis of laws and regulations related to the efficiency of material and energy certification of buildings. This activity was conducted in all the countries involved in the project, It was analyzed in detail the current situation and implementing Directive 2010/31 / EU, for Italy the work was done dall'ASEA.
Then it moved to the identification of pilot cases.
They will now have to be developed action plans for the restructuring of the sports facilities, identifying suitable energy efficiency measures and use of renewable energy to be implemented in each pilot in the next building 10 years to reach the condition of NZEB (Nearly Zero Energy Buildings).
We are now entering the heart of the project activities, through the definition of energy efficiency indicators of sports buildings and the drafting of action plans for the modernization of the same, identifying appropriate measures to ensure that energy consumption are guaranteed minimum or zero. Through the comparison between the various European companies, then, the aim is to study the optimal solutions for every single gym, pool or sports facility.
It also will forward, a breve, a recommendation to the European Commission for the adoption of a common EU system of certification of sports complexes. All this is preparatory to the restructuring for pilot cases from next year.
